Credit Bureau Reporting

During your enrollment at DePauw information regarding your student loan was reported to nation wide credit bureaus at the time of each disbursement.   The status of the account and repayment information will continue to be reported each month until the  account is paid in full.

Your student loans can be an asset to you.  Systematic timely repayment of your loan establishes a good credit rating record  and  is an early indication that you take your financial obligations seriously.   Your student loan is just as important as any other debt you will incur.  Your student loan gives you an opportunity to establish yourself as a responsible individual who pays financial obligations.  Your credit rating will reflect this positive activity.   On the other hand  failure to make timely payments can jeopardize other avenues of credit.

What is a consumer credit report?

"A consumer credit report is a factual record of an individual's credit payment history.  It is provided for a purpose permitted by law, primarily to credit grantors.  Its main purpose is to help a lender quickly and objectively decide whether to grant you credit".

Below are the credit bureau organizations your loan account has been reported to.   To obtain a copy of your credit report you may contact one of the agencies.  You must have the following information on hand when you call:
