WINTER TERM : ON CAMPUS COURSES

Course Requests for On-Campus Courses

Please read carefully!

On-campus Winter Term courses are open to all DePauw students.

Course Request Procedures:

1)  Read the Winter Term On-Campus Course Descriptions

Read the Winter Term course descriptions carefully and find six courses of most interest to you.  Jot down the three-digit course code numbers of those courses. (Piece of advice: don't just choose those courses that sound as if they will be popular. This is a recipe for getting "shut out" during the registration process.) If you have any questions about a specific course feel free to contact the instructor for further information.  E-mail links are provided.  Note, however, that instructors cannot save spots in classes for individual students.

2)   Request courses between November 13-20, 2006.

When you have determined which courses you are most interested in, go to E-Services and click the link to the Winter Term on-campus course request screen.  After entering your e-mail username, password, and PIN, you will be taken to an On-Campus Course Request form.  No other access code (RAC) is required.  If you wish to review any course information, you may open up a link to the course description page.

Note: You may submit your course requests between November 13-20, 2006, at any time between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. Feel free to review your requests and change them as often as you wish during the course request submission period. All requests must be submitted by Monday, November 20 at 11:45 p.m., after which time the registration program will be run.

Note: The registration order for Winter Term 2007 is K - A, then Z - L.

3)  Make six requests.

On the input screen, type in the three-digit course codes for the six courses of greatest interest to you, in order of preference, and click on the SUBMIT button.  Your choices will be listed on the following screen.  You will be prompted to correct any errors.  Again, you may review your requests and change them as often as you wish during the course request submission period, until 11:45 p.m.

  • Special Permission Courses: A few courses are by special permission of the instructor only; these exceptions are clearly indicated in the course descriptions. Contact the instructor to learn more about auditions or to see if a place in the course is available; if you are able to obtain permission, the instructor will provide you with a permission code.  On the On-Campus Course Request form, type the three-digit course code in the blank for the first course request, and type the five-digit special permission number in the blank below.

After the registration is run, results of the registration will be available on E-Services

4)  Adjustments.

No adjustments in your Winter Term registration may be made until Monday, November 27, 2006.  Between November 27 and December 11, however, you may add an open course or exchange your course for another open course on-line.

  • From E-Services, access the Winter Term on-campus course adjustment screen.  After entering your e-mail username, password, and PIN, you will be taken to an On-Campus Course Adjustment form.  If you wish to review any course information, you may again open up a link to the course description page.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to add, drop, or exchange a course.
  • The Winter Term office will maintain an updated list of open courses on our web page. Once the course adjustment period begins, on Monday, November 27, we will revise these open course indications at least twice a day, but adds, drops, and exchanges will be ongoing, so be sure to check specific courses on the course adjustment screen.
  • Subject to availability, you may make changes as often as you wish during the course adjustment period, until 11:45 p.m. on December 11, 2006, after which time adjustments will be closed for the rest of the semester.
  • Students who are not registered for Winter Term will be able to register for an open on-campus course in the Winter Term office on Tuesday, January 2, 2006.  Course adjustments may be made only through the end of the first day of class, January 3, 2006.  Students who wish on that date to switch into a currently OPEN class, and who receive permission from the instructor, should come to the Winter Term Office in Durham House for assistance.
