Prizes and Other Upperclass Awards

These tuition-only scholarships are awarded at the end of an academic year to be used the following year in which the student is enrolled at DePauw.

Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media

Gertrude and G. D. Crain Foundation Award is awarded to students making the most effective use of the facilities provided by the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media.

Financial Aid Office

Katherine Cox Hoover Scholarship was established by James E. and Katherine Cox Hoover ('51) to be awarded to a sophomore exhibiting outstanding character, leadership, and special talents in extra curricular activities.  [Print the Application]

D. J. Angus Scientech Educational Foundation Award is given to a sophomore or junior science student showing the greatest GPA improvement from the previous year.

Jack Torr Prize is awarded to a Putnam County student who comes from a farm in the county in memory of Jack Torr.

Stuart D. and Jane P. Watson Delta Tau Delta Award provides annual scholarships to the fraternity members who maintain the highest grade point averages.

Martha Weddell Nicholson Scholarship This award is given to an academic, female, rising senior interested in the sciences who is involved in many activities at DePauw.

Joan Westmen Battey Kappa Alpha Theta Scholarship  The Joan Westmen Battey Scholarship is awarded to a student from Kappa Alpha Theta who has the highest GPA during the fall semester of her sophomore year.

Gerald F. Fitzgerald, Jr. Scholarship is awarded to a student who is an active participant in campus ministry programs as recommended by the Dean of the Chapel.

The Busey Family Endowed Scholarship is awarded to promote academic talent within the Alpha Tau Omega house. The recipient will have earned a GPA during the fall semester that is higher than other eligible members of the house, will have demonstrated financial need and will be involved in campus leadership.

The Albert Lund Scholarship is for an active member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity who has won an internal scholarship competition based on academic achievement, commitment to fraternity and community service.

Union Board

Randal L. Wilson Memorial Union Board Award is given to the junior student in recognition of most campus involvement. Parents of Randal L. Wilson established this award in 1966 in memory of their son who had been president of the Union Board.

Japanese Studies

Sharon Hamilton Nolte Prize in Japanese Studies is awarded to the student having a grade point average of 3.30 or higher while studying at a Japanese University. The award is given in memory of Sharon Hamilton Nolte (member of the Department of History 1984-87).

Office of Civic Opportunities

Men's Hall Alumni Association Achievement Scholarship is awarded to a student whose academic achievement, extra curricular involvement, and character typify the standards of the men who once lived at Men's Hall.

DePauw University Archives

Clifton J. Phillips Archives Essay Award is awarded to the student who has written the best paper of 1,000 words minimum on a topic of their choosing.  Successful entries must have utilized a significant amount of research in resources at the Archives of DePauw and Indiana United Methodism.

United Methodist Scholarships

United Methodist Scholarships are awarded to United Methodist students at DePauw. To qualify, the applicant must have a B grade point average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale), demonstrate financial need as determined by completing the FAFSA, and be a member of the United Methodist Church at least one year. Incoming students and current students have the same selection criteria. The united_methodist_app.pdf and united_methodist_pastor.pdf  forms are available on-line. June 1 is the application deadline. A certification of church membership is required from the student's home church. Renewal is based upon a student continuing to meet the eligibility requirements.
