2013 Summer VISIT information
The Office of Admission will be open Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. from May 20 – August 28. There are no weekend appointments in the summer.
During the summer, visiting students and families will be able to tour the campus, meet with admission staff in individual or group settings, and depending on availability, meet with a professor or coach. During the summer, we are not able to offer the options of attending a class or spending the night on campus.
During the summer, may choose to visit the campus at one of the following visit times Monday – Friday:
• 9:00 a.m.
• 10:15 a.m.
• 1:00 p.m.
• 2:15 p.m.
(Please note that all times are Eastern Daylight Time.)
The standard campus visit will include a campus tour and the opportunity to meet with a member of the Admission staff either individually or in a group setting depending on your preference and staff availability. You may also ask to meet with a professor or a coach if you have a specific academic or athletic interest. Since we do not offer summer classes or have athletic teams on campus during the summer, we cannot guarantee we will be able to honor your request but will make every effort to do so.
Admission appointments with Admission staff fall into two categories:
• Individual Interviews – Interviews are the most popular option and the option we recommend if possible. These are primarily conversations about a student’s college search, what he/she is looking for in a college and a college experience, the student’s high school experience, the admission process at DePauw, financial aid/scholarships at DePauw, and a host of other topics. Interviews typically last 45 – 60 minutes.
• Information Sessions – Information sessions are brief presentations by an admission counselor that includes an overview of DePauw and the opportunity for questions and answers. Information sessions may have multiple families in attendance. Information sessions typically last 30 – 45 minutes.
The campus tour is a walking tour led by a current DePauw student. The tour enters several, but not all of the buildings on campus. It takes approximately 75 minutes, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The summer months in Indiana can be hot, so please dress accordingly. You should check the weather before arriving since our tours occur through rain, snow, sleet, and hail! (Though snow and sleet are pretty rare during the summer.)
