Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards Nomination Information

The DePauw University Alumni Association Board of Directors invites alumni to submit nominations for distinguished alumni achievement awards.

What are the award categories?
Old Gold Goblet: Eminence in life’s work and service to alma mater
Young Alumnus/a Award: An alumnus or alumna under the age of forty (40), who has demonstrated leadership in career and civic associations and has shown strong loyalty to DePauw University

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Creative and Performing Arts: Recognizing achievement in the fields of music, performance, fine arts and writing
Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Citizenship and Voluntary Service: Recognizing accomplishment in public service and volunteer leadership
Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Management and Entrepreneurship (in conjunction with McDermond Center for Management and Entrepreneurship): Recognizing success and career leadership in business
Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Media (in conjunction with Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media Wall of Fame): Recognizing outstanding work in print, broadcast or electronic media and journalism
Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Professional Achievement: Recognizing success and performance in science, medicine, nursing, clergy, law, education and the military

How are nominees selected?
The Alumni Office staff collects nominations from alumni throughout the year with a deadline of June 30th. The DePauw Development and Alumni Relations Research Office supplements these nominations with information on file with the University. In the fall, the Nominating Committee of the Alumni Board of Directors meets to review nominations then selects award recipients that following winter. Recipients are approved by the entire Alumni Board of Directors during the spring meeting. Award winners are notified of their award, and are invited to a celebration Awards Dinner during Old Gold Weekend.

How long is a nomination effective?
Nominees remain on the nomination list for three years. If after three years, the nominee has not been selected for an award, he/she may be re-nominated for another three year period.

What is the nomination process?
Please provide: Indicate for WHICH award you are nominating the alumnus/a Nominee's full name and class year Nominee's Complete address All business/professional information for nominee A brief explanation of the qualifications of this nominee for a distinguished alumni achievement award. Use your own words to list relevant accomplishments or other recognition. Include your own name and day time phone number.
