Nancy Bowen: Begettings

February 6 - March 23, 2012

Nancy Bowen utilizes imagery from Farmer's Almanacs, published between 1800 and 1867.  In her drawings, she collages imagery and text from the Farmer's Almanacs with rubbings of early American tombstones and linear patterns suggestive of Eastern origins.  Her sculpture urges the questions raised by the works on paper:  what recommends itself as auspicious?  What compels belief?  What serves in our negotiations with fate?

Andy Warhol: I Am A Camera

September 6 – February 29, 2012

An obsessive recorder of the world around him, the camera was Andy Warhol’s constant companion, functioning as a sketchbook, visual diary and means of communication. Including a selection of his Polaroid photographs, black-and-white prints, and Screen Tests, this exhibition presents Warhol’s work in a relational context that illuminates the complex ways in which he used the medium of photography to explore the interplay between image and memory and, ultimately, life and art.
