Gasbarra Named Field Hockey Coach

Greencastle, Ind. - Carla Gasbarra, a 1995 DePauw graduate, has been named the University's field hockey coach. She replaces Judy George who announced her retirement in April after over 30 years of coaching.

Since graduation, Gasbarra has served as a bilingual teacher at the elementary school level in Phoenix,. Ariz.

The Oklahoma City, Okla., native and Casady School graduate, earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics and was a four-year letterwinner for the DePauw field hockey team.

She earned all-conference and all-state honors as a senior and served as a team captain. Gasbarra also was the team's Tiger Award recipient for the best mental attitude each of her junior and senior seasons and was named to the Dean's List while at DePauw.

During the 1999 season, Gasbarra interned as an assistant coach for the Tigers for a short time. DePauw finished the season with a 17-3 record and the program's second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship.
