LAST YEAR'S MEETING WITH SEWANEE
Host Sewanee scored 27 unanswered points including 20 in the fourth quarter to blow open a tight game and take a 33-14 SCAC victory. Sewanee got on the board first, but DePauw took a 7-6 lead on Kurt Hare's six-yard pass to Joe Schoen. Sewanee took the lead for good in the second as they scored on a 4-yard pass play. The hosts scored twice in a 55-second span of the fourth quarter to take control at 27-7.

Again, DePauw's offense struggled as it managed just 241 yards of offense and committed four turnovers. The defense limited Sewanee to only 257 yards, but the hosts converted three DePauw turnovers into quick scores on drives each of five or fewer plays. A.J. Smart led the Tigers with 59 yards on just one carry that resulted in a fourth-quarter score. Max Fuller totaled 113 rushing yards on 32 carries and scored twice.

Defensively, Joe Rogowski led DePauw with 14 tackles and Jason Geringer added 11. Billy Lewis led Sewanee with 12 stops.

THE LAST DEPAUW GAME (full story)
For the third week in a row, the Tigers rallied from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter only to lose, 30-26, to nationally-ranked Trinity. The Tigers led 13-10 at halftime on touchdown passes from Jason Lee to Dan Ryan and Joe Schoen, but the visitors scored two third-quarter touchdowns to take a 23-13 lead. The Tigers added a third-quarter score of their own on Ryan McGuffey's reception from Lee to cut the margin to 23-20, but Trinity responded with a score early in the fourth to take a 30-20 advantage.

Lee and Ryan teamed again to cut the deficit to 30-26 with 9:04 left and the Tigers got the ball back just over a minute later as Corey Yost intercepted a Trinity pass and returned it to their 38-yard line. The DePauw offense couldn't pick up a first down and was forced to punt. Trinity was able to keep the ball and drain the final 6:59 off the clock.

Lee completed 21 of 39 passes for 286 yards and four touchdowns with 11 going to Schoen for 145 yards and seven to Ryan for 102 yards. Trinity's Roy Hampton finished with 28-of-42 passing for 299 yards and three scores. He connected with Hunt 10 times for 132 yards. Jason Geringer led the DePauw defense with 10 total tackles with Frisky Williams and Mike Laszynski each finishing with nine. John Paul Visosky and Josh Allen were in on six stops apiece for Trinity with Visosky totaling two for losses.

DEPAUW NOTES
For the second straight week, quarterback Jason Lee was selected one of the Division III Offensive Players of the Week by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. His four touchdown passes against Trinity were a career high . Joe Schoen's career total of 1,408 receiving yards ranks eighth in school history and his 107 receptions rank ninth. He leads the SCAC in both receptions and yards per game . Dan Ryan leads the conference in scoring with 7.5 points per contest . DePauw's four losses by six or fewer points this season marks just the third time in 113 seasons that a Tiger team has lost that many games by that margin and the only time they have come in consecutive contests. The other years were 1911 and 1964 . DePauw has a 57-33-3 record on Old Gold Day since it began in 1907. Additionally, the Tigers have won the last four Old Gold Day contests, 13 of the last 14 and 18 of the last 20.
