Jennifer A. “Jenny” Bauer '88

Inducted: 1999

Jenny Bauer is a Mooresville, Ind. Native, where she starred in basketball, track, and cross-country.  She was selected academic all-state in both basketball and track as a high school athlete.  Bauer was a history major, making the Dean’s list each of her four years and graduating cum laude.  She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.  Women’s basketball at DePauw was in its infancy in those years.  A varsity team wasn’t formed until 1979 and didn’t have a full-time coach until 1987.  Bauer started as point guard her freshman year, averaging 15.6 points and four rebounds per game.  Nearly half of the opponents that year were Division II schools that offered athletic scholarships.  She holds a single game scoring record of 40 points, 18-21 from the field.  She was a co-captain of the team her senior year and ended her cage career with 999 points.  In track, she was DePauw’s first woman All-American, earning honors in the 800-meter run at the national championship.  In addition, she was a Little State Champion, and All-NAIA champion and was selected to the All-Hoosier Conference for Women.  She helped break five school track records. Bauer earned seven varsity athletics letters in softball, basketball and track and was named MVP her freshman year and co-MVP her senior year in basketball.  She earned a JD degree from the Indiana University School of Law in 1991 and is a licensed attorney in Indiana.
