DR. GEORGE W. CRANE '42
Inducted: 1986
It was said
George Crane was the most versatile athlete in his class. Three letters in
three different sports-basketball, football, and track-seem to confirm
that. He was a conference discus champ, a member of the conference
all-star team, and co-captain of his own Tiger team. As president of the
undergraduate "D" Association, Crane had the honor of presenting a "D"
blanket to Mrs. Ira Blackstock the day the stadium was dedicated. The
NFL's Eagles and Lions expressed interest in his future, but he chose
medical school instead. The Dayton, OH native now lives in Durham, NC,
where he is associated as a faculty member or associate, specializing in
dermatology, at the Duke University Medical School and University of North
Carolina Medical School.
