MARION L. CRAWLEY '30
Inducted: 1986
A native of
Greencastle, Marion Crawley had an exceptional career as a play-making
Tiger basketball guard and back in football. He entered the coaching
profession after DePauw, heading football programs at three high schools
for 13 years, including two undefeated teams and a cumulative record of
93-27-7. But it was in basketball where Crawley was unexcelled. He won
four Indiana State High School championships during a 35-year period,
winning two at Washington (IN) in 1941 and 1942 and two more at Lafayette
Jefferson H.S. in 1948 and 1964. His basketball teams won 734 and lost
only 231. He coached the Japanese Olympic basketball team and is a member
of both the Indiana Football and Basketball Halls of Fame.
