RICHARD S. DEAN '64
Inducted: 1986
Richard Dean
dominated the Indiana Collegiate Conference for two years as an offensive
center and defensive linebacker. Captain of the team both years, he was
the chosen the ICC's MV Lineman his senior year, which he topped off-to
the delight of a partisan Monon Bell crowd-by getting a rare ball-carrying
assignment against as outclassed Wabash team. Dean was chosen Little
All-American by AP, twice was voted all-Methodist by Fred Russell of the
Nashville (TN) Banner, and twice was all-conference. The St. Louis
Cardinals drafted Dean as a free agent. He spent a year in St. Louis then
went on with his career plans as an advertising art director. After
assignments with three Connecticut firms, he joined Fox Press Inc. in
Hartford, CT, where his is now vice president of the corporation. But
football isn't neglected; he has coached two Midget Football teams to
titles.
