Robert J. Doyle '82 Inducted: 1999 Rob Doyle was a product of Andrean High School in Gary, Ind. A standout football player in high school, he was named honorable mention all-state quarterback his senior year. When he arrived at DePauw in 1978, the football tigers weren’t a strong team. Several coaches had served brief stints, and there was little continuity. Doyle became starting quarterback his sophomore year, but the team finished a disappointing 2-7 record. Even so, the team was turning around. He was named most valuable offensive player that year. The following year, he led the Tigers to a 7-2-1 record, and in 1981, under new coach Nick Mourouzis, finished 9-1 and ranked 9th in the final NCAA Division III poll. Doyle broke Tiger season marks in attempts, completions, yards passing and touchdown passes, and twice tied the school record of four TD passes in one game. He received a law degree from Indiana University and is a partner in an Indianapolis firm.
