Philip N. Eskew '63
Inducted: 1994
Phil Eskew came to DePauw from Sullivan High School where he earned eight
letters in three sports and was an all-Wabash Valley selection at
quarterback. At DePauw he earned two letters in football and three in
track and field. As a member of the track team he truly was a utility
performer, earning points in 10 different events. He also set the state
record in the 330-yard dash and was co-captain of the track team his
senior year. In a 1962 football game with Evansville, he set a school
record by intercepting three passes. Additionally, he served as president
of the Intramural Board and was selected as the recipient of the F.C.
Tucker Award as the best senior athlete at DePauw. Eskew has practiced in
the obstetrics and gynecology areas for over 20 years. He has served as
Junior Fellow national chair of the American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists. He also has chaired the state and district organizations.
He serves on the editorial panel of the CPT of the American Medical
Association. Eskew has twice served as president of the Carmel-Clay School
Board and is involved extensively in many civic organizations. He has
chaired the DePauw University Athletic Hall of Fame since its inception in
1986 and has served as president of the Alumni "D" Association since 1986.
He currently serves as the Program Director for the OB/GYN Residency at
St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
