ROBERT J. FINK '56
Inducted: 1990
Bob Fink lettered in football all four years at DePauw and received
numerous awards. A starter for three years on both offense and defense, he
was named Most Valuable Lineman, Most Valuable Player, Athlete of the Year
and Honorable Mention Little All-American. He was captain of the football
team and president of "D" Association in his senior year. While at DePauw
he started every game but one, never missed a game because of an injury,
and played one year with two broken fingers. As a defensive player he
scored three touchdowns - one on a blocked punt, another on a pass
interception and one on a handoff from the opposing team's quarterback.
After graduating from DePauw, Bob began a 31-year career in high school
education and coaching. From 1963 to 1986, he was Director of Athletics at
Northridge High School in Dayton, Ohio, where he led a pioneering effort
to evaluate girls' sports. A leader in both the Ohio and National Athletic
Director's Associations, he was named Athletic Director of the Year for
Ohio's Southwest District in 1983. In 1988 Bob was one of 97 athletic
administrators to be recognized as a Certified Athletic Administrator by
the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
