J. Randall
Reifers '68
Inducted: 1997
Randy Reifers didn't take up golf until age 13. Just eight years later, he
was the number one golfer on DePauw's team and a teammate of former
vice-president Dan Quayle '69. He was selected one of three MVPs in the
ICC Tournament his sophomore year. He finished 16th at the ICC tournament
as a junior and fourth as a senior, just three strokes off the lead. He
was voted MVP by his teammates as a junior. Perhaps his greatest golf
achievements occurred after graduation from DePauw. He was the two-time
Ohio Amateur Champion and once runner-up; the Ohio Mid-Amateur Champion in
1994 and runner-up in 1986; two-time Columbus District Amateur Champion
and three-time runner-up; was an eight-time contestant in the United
States Amateur and United States Mid-Amateur Championships; and was the
Pete Dye Cup Champion in 1984. He has been active as a member and director
of the United States Golf Association and the Columbus District Golf
Association. He is an active member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, Bishop
Watterson High School Athletic Boosters Club and has been a coach for the
Dublin (Ohio) Youth Basketball League. Reifers has been a furniture
manufacturer's representative for the past 26 years and has earned
numerous sales awards. He and his wife, Allison, are parents of Erin and
Kyle, and live in Dublin, Ohio.
