TIGERS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT; HOLD OFF SAINTS 74-62

GREENCASTLE, IND.- Ryan Hooker (Sr., Rensselaer/Rensselaer Central) scored 26 points and Craig Stewart (Jr., New Albany/Floyd Central) added 17 a the DePauw men's basketball team defeated Thomas More 74-62. The Tigers improve to 3-5 with the win, while Thomas More slips to 3-4.

The Tigers trailed early at 4-0, but scored nine straight to take the lead for good. The advantage reached as many as 10 on two occasions during the first half as Hooker and Stewart combined for 23 of the Tigers' 37 points. DePauw led 37-29 at the intermission.

Stewart opened the second half with a tree-pointer, but the Saints scored five straight to get to within six at 40-34 with 17:49 left. The Tigers scored the next four to take the lad back to double digits. It stayed there most of the half with the largest margin coming at 15 in the final minute.

Hooker added five rebounds and five assists and Matt Bowers (Sr., Granville, Ohio/Granville) and Rick Brown (Sr., Rochester/Rochester) each grabbed seven rebounds. The Tigers held a 33-23 advantage on the boards. Andy Helmers led Thomas More with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Markel Snyder had 16 and David Green added 11.

The Tigers take on Kalamazoo on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wabash College in the first game of the Tiger-Little Giant Classic at Wabash.
