GEORGETOWN, Texas - The
DePauw men's basketball team completed its weekend sweep in Texas with
a 69-55 win at Southwestern University. With the victory the Tigers improved
to 16-6 overall and 10-5 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference. Southwestern fell to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in the SCAC. The Tigers led early by a 12-11 score
before scoring eight straight including five by Joe Ringger to takw a
20-11 lead with 7:53 left. That lead reached as many as 12 points in
the first half and was eight at halftime as DePauw led 42-34. The Pirates got as close as six in
the second half, but the Tigers held on for the win. Ringger paced DePauw with 20 points
followed by Jeremy Bettis and Dave Gifford with 11 each. Ringger
grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Michael Dunleavy led Southwestern
with 17 points. The Tigers host Rose-Hulman on
Thursday at 8 p.m. The Engineers are currently tied for first in the
SCAC standings with a 12-3 conference record.
