Ringger named SCAC Player of the Week for third time this season

 

Greencastle, Ind. (1-27-03) - Senior center Joe Ringger (Westville, Ind./Chesterton) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after his performances in wins over Sewanee and Centre. The honor is the fifth of his career.

 

Ringger averaged a double-double of 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Tigers swept home SCAC games against Sewanee and Centre to improve to 6-1 and remain atop the conference standings.

In Friday's 86-67 win over Sewanee, Ringger had 17 points and six rebounds and followed with 21 points and equaled his season-high of 15 rebounds in Sunday's 76-61 victory over Centre.

For the week, Ringger shot 56.5% (13-23) from the floor and 66.7% (12-18) from the line and also added three assists, three blocks and one steal to aid DePauw's cause.

Ringger is currently third in the SCAC in scoring (17.8 ppg) and leads the league in rebounding (9.6 rpg) while shooting 54.3% from the field (fifth in the SCAC). He is also 10th in the league in blocked shots (0.8 bpg).
