Tigers Capture SCAC Title; Moch and Cohen Earn Top Honors

The Tigers totaled 945.5 points to finish 202 points ahead of runner-up Trinity on the way to their second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title at Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss.

The 202-point victory margin matched DePauw's record from their title in 2001 and the 945.5 points established an SCAC record.

The Tigers built a 54-point lead after the first day of competition as every 500 free and 200 IM swimmer finished with a lifetime best. Among the highlights was Evan Kennel's title in the 200 IM.

The second day of the meet included Todd Darlington's victory in the 200 free and Kennel's NCAA provisional qualifying finish in the 100 back.

The Tigers took the top four spots on both the one- and three-meter boards and all five divers placed on both boards. Senior Nate Moch came away with firsts on both boards followed closely by senior teammate Bret Schoff. Moch earned SCAC Diver of the Year honors for the fourth straight year.

On the final day of competition, Chris Frankel finished second in the 1650 and three other Tigers placed in the top 12 in the event. Kennel then posted another qualifying time the 200 back.

The Tigers took the title with a great deal of depth as every DePauw swimmer or diver placed in the top 10 in at least one event and all but three placed in the top eight in at least one event.

Head Coach Adam Cohen as named the SCAC Coach of the Year for the second time in four years.
