Smith earns fifth all-America award with sixth-place discus finish
DePauw junior Colin Smith finished sixth in the discus at the NCAA Division III Championships to earn his fifth all-America honor in three years. Smith notched his third all-America award in the discus in as many years with a throw of 158'0" (48.16m) at the meet held at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. Smith also competed in the hammer and finished with a throw of 163'6" (49.84m) in the prelims on Thursday. Smith won the discus as a freshman and finished second last year. Complete NCAA Results

Smith finishes second in discus; Fruth 11th in 5,000 at North Central Invitational
Four-time all-American Colin Smith placed second in the discus at the North Central College Invitational with a throw of 49.48 meters (162'4") and Eric Fruth placed 11th in the 5,000 meter run in 15:13.95.

Smith places third in discus and ninth in hammer at Billy Hayes Invitational
DePauw junior Colin Smith, who has the longest throw in the discus in Division III and the ninth longest in the hammer, competed at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington and placed third in the discus and ninth in the hammer. His discus throw of 176 feet, 11 inches, was his second longest of the season, while his hammer throw of 168 feet, 11 inches, was his third best this year. Smith will compete in both events at the NCAA Division III Championships, May 25-27, at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

Indy Relays Results

DePauw places third at Indiana Intercollegiates
The Tigers finished third among 21 teams at the annual Indiana Intercollegiate Track and Field Invitational at the University of Indianapolis. DePauw finished with 142 points followed by Indianapolis with 139 and the Tigers with 55. DePauw's 4 x 100 relay set a school record and finished third in 42.80 seconds. Colin Smith won the discus throw at 176-6 and was second in the hammer at 167-0 to lead the individual scorers. Complete Results

Tigers defeat Indiana Wesleyan and Butler at DePauw Triangular
The Tigers totaled 241 points on the way to winning the DePauw Triangular. Indiana Wesleyan finished with 186 points followed by Butler with 123. Complete Results

The seventh annual DePauw Track and Field Invitational has been cancelled due to weather. The meet will not be rescheduled.

DePauw finishes third at Emory Classic
Colin Smith took firsts in the discus (53.22 meters) and hammer (50.84 meters) and was third in the shot put (14.87 meters) to lead the Tigers to a third place finish at the Emory Classic. The Tigers earned an additional first place as the 4 x 100-meter relay won in 43.20 seconds. The 4 x 400 relay placed third in 3:23.93 as did Matt DeLeon in the 10,000 meters in 33:57.08. Tigers finish seventh at Emory Division III Invitational
The Tigers placed seventh among 18 schools at the Emory Division III Invitational. Colin Smith won the hammer with a throw of 51.36 meters, the shot put at 15.36 meters and the discus at 51.68 meters. Complete results

Tigers named outstanding team of Wabash Relays; Smith qualifies provisionally for NCAA Championships
In the first outdoor competition of the season, the Tigers were named the outstanding men's team at the Wabash Relays. Junior Colin Smith led the way with an NCAA provisional qualifying hammer throw of 174-4.

Smith earns fourth all-America honor with third place showing at NCAA Championships
Junior Colin Smith earned his fourth all-America award in less than three full years at DePauw as he finished third in the 35-pound weight throw at the NCAA Division III Championships at Illinois Wesleyan University. Smith was second after prelims after a throw of 58 feet, 5 3/4 inches. In the finals he placed third with a toss of 59 feet, 3/4 inches. Last year, Smith finished sixth.

Smith sets record, qualifies for nationals at Hoosier Hills Open
Junior Colin Smith earned automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships by winning the weight throw at the Hoosier Hills Open in Bloomington. Smith's throw of 18.42 meters (60 feet, 5.25 inches) set a new DePauw record and easily topped the Division III automatic qualifying distance of 17.61 meters. His throw was also less than five inches shy of last year's national championship toss. RESULTS

Two Tigers set records at Ohio Northern Invitational
Shawn Odle won the 55-meter high hurdles in 7.94 seconds at the Ohio Northern Invitational and, in the process, set a school record. Tim Sutton placed third in the 500 meters in 1:07.84 and also established a new DePauw record. The Tigers placed fifth among 10 teams at the meet. Complete results.
