Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw won its third straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Championship as it totaled a record 235.5 points and topped second place Trinity by 50. Along the way, the Tigers set SCAC records in four different events.
The Tigers took the top four spots in the steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run to account for 58 of their points for the entire meet. Senior Shawn Odle notched his fourth straight SCAC championship in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.10 seconds.
Senior Eric Fruth was a double-winner for the Tigers as he finished first in both the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter runs. His title in the 1,500 was his third straight and his championship in the 5K was his second in three years. Fruth's time of 15:19.21 in the 5,000 meters broke his own conference record of 15:39.36 (set in 2000) by 20 seconds.
