September 5, 2009, Lynchburg, Va. — Host Lynchburg scored twice in the opening six minutes and expanded the lead on the way to a 9-0 win over DePauw. The 16th-ranked Hornets improved to 2-0, while the Tigers dropped to 1-1.
Jenny Weir scored the first of her three goals just 2:36 into the contest and Erin Funkhouse followed with a score at 5:25 before Allie Weir made it 3-0 with the first of her four scores.
Lynchburg outshot DePauw 28-10 and held a 9-8 edge in penalty corners. Sarah Cates and Tiffany Frye combined for the shutout, while Liz Attewell had seven saves for the Tigers.
DePauw travels to Roanoke on Sunday.
