DEPAUW BOX SCORES: Dominican | Kalamazoo
September 18, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw improved to 11-1 on the season after collection wins over Dominican and Kalamazoo in the opening night of the DePauw Invitational.
The Tigers opened with a 3-2 win over Dominican (16-25, 26-24, 25-12, 23-25, 15-10) and followed it up with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-15) victory over Kalamazoo.
In the Dominican match, Annie Collier led the Tigers with 14 kills, while Ali Smith totaled 42 assists. Kylee Lerhman totaled five aces with Kate Carrico recording 18 digs. Kristen Chynoweth paced the Tigers with five blocks.
Katie Petrovich led DePauw with nine kills against Kalamazoo and Smith totaled 27 assists. Lerhman led with three aces, while Carrico had 17 digs and Petrovich and Chynoweth each added three blocks.
DePauw takes on Capital at Noon on Saturday and, with a win, will compete for the championship at 3:30 p.m.
Heidelberg went 2-0 in the other pool with wins over Millikin and Rose-Hulman.
