October 31, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw wrapped up the home portion of its field hockey season with a 2-0 win over Sewanee at McKeen Field. The Tigers improved to 11-7 overall and finished Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season play at 5-3, while Sewanee dropped to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
Bridgette Shamleffer (left) gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead on Sarah Riffle's assist at 42:31 before Kimberly Trainor added an insurance goal at 54:16 on Shamleffer's assist.
DePauw held a 19-1 advantage in shots and a 16-1 margin in penalty corners. Liz Attewell recorded one save in posting the shutout while Sewanee's Emily Detmer had nine saves.
The Tigers, seeded third for next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament at Hendrix, open play on Saturday, November 7, against second-seeded Centre.
