January 27, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - The 15th-ranked Tigers extended their home win streak to 21 and remained unbeaten in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play following a 78-60 win over visiting Millsaps.
DePauw improved to 15-3 overall and 8-0 in the SCAC, while the Majors dropped to 4-13 overall and 2-7 in the conference.
The Tigers used a 9-0 first-half run to extend their lead to 25-13 on the way to a 37-25 halftime advantage. The Majors were still within 12 at 52-40 midway through the second half before DePauw embarked on a 20-6 run which put the game away.
Jenna Fernandez paced DePauw with game highs of 28 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double. Cassie Pruzin added 13 points, while Pruzin and Gretchen Haehl each dished out six assists. Emily Marshall grabbed 10 rebounds as DePauw held a 44-33 edge on the boards.
Tiffany Whitmore paced Millsaps with 13, while Crystal Dickerson and Jessica Bowie each scored 11. LaReina Adams and Bowie each grabbed eight boards and Dickerson dished out five assists. Bowie also blocked four shots.
The Tigers shot 44.3 percent for the game, but hit 50 percent in the second half. Millsaps connected on 40 percent from the field but just 36.4 percent in the second half. DePauw committed just 11 turnovers in the win.
The victory was also DePauw's 37th straight SCAC home win and its 40th straight home regular season win.
DePauw travels to Southwestern on Friday, February 1 for a 6 p.m. CST game.
The 15th-ranked Tigers never trailed, but visiting Hendrix closed a 14-point deficit to two with just over four minutes to play before the Tigers scored seven of the game's final eight points in a 78-70 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Warriors
