August 29, 2008, Columbus, Ohio - The Tiger volleyball team opened the 2008 season with a split of its two matches at the Capital University Invitational.
Heidelberg topped the Tigers in the first match by a 3-2 score (25-19, 16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-6) before DePauw came back to defeat Otterbein 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-11).
In the Heidelberg match, Adrienne Cobb led the way with 12 kills, while Loren Sloan added 11. Kate Carrico and Kristen Chynoweth paced the Tigers with four service aces apiece, while Chynoweth totaled a team-best six blocks. Emily Smith finished with 26 digs and Ali Smith totaled 37 assists.
Against Otterbein, Cobb had eight kills, while Madison Hoenig and Sloan each had two aces. Ali Smith led with 30 assists with Hoenig totaling 12 digs and Chynoweth leading with six blocks.
The Tigers face Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday morning.
