August 30, 2008, Columbus, Ohio - DePauw won both of its Saturday matches and finished with a 3-1 record and in third place at the Capital Invitational. The Tigers finished pool play with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-21) win over Westminster (Pa.) and then topped Adrian 3-1 (25-12, 25-18, 23-25, 25-13).
In the Westminster match, Kristen Chynoweth and Erin Cunningham each totaled 10 kills, while Ali Smith posted 33 assists and Emily Smith had 13 digs. Adrienne Cobb led with three blocks and Kate Carrico totaled two service aces.
Cobb led DePauw with 16 kills against Adrian and did not record any errors in 28 attack attempts. Cunningham followed with 12 kills, while Ali Smith recorded 47 assists. Cobb also finished with 12 blocks with Emily Smith finishing with 21 digs and Chynoweth totaling four aces.
For her efforts, Cobb earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
DePauw competes in the Hanover Invitational on Sept. 5-6 and faces Spalding and Principia on Friday evening.
