September 6, 2008, Hanover, Ind. - After winning three straight five-set matches to advance to the Hanover Invitational title match, the Tigers were on the losing end of a five-setter in the title tilt against the hosts.
DePauw concluded pool play with a 3-0 record earlier today after defeating Franklin 3-2 (25-15,25-23,21-25,23-25,15-12). In the title match, Hanover knocked off DePauw 3-2 (25-21, 17-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12).
Against Franklin, Erin Cunningham led the way with 18 kills, while Ali Smith totaled 44 assists and three service aces. Emily Smith finished with 28 digs and Loren Sloan added 24.
Katey Larson paced DePauw with 16 kills in the loss to Hanover wth Ali Smith pacing the team with 48 assists. Emily Smith led the way with 34 digs, while Dana Genet added 21 along with a team-high three service aces. Kristen Chynoweth and Cobb each had six blocks.
Cunningham and Emily Smith earned spots on the all-tournament team.
The 6-2 Tigers return to action on Wednesday, September 10, when they travel to Anderson.
