January 11, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw improved to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a 96-72 win over visiting Rhodes. The Lynx dropped to 6-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Rhodes scored the game's first two points, but the Tigers scored the next 10 on the way to a 47-27 halftime lead. That advantage reached as many as 27 in the second half.
Mike Moore (pictured) led the way with 31 which was one shy of equaling his career high, while Tom Callen added 16 and Steve Lemasters followed with 13.
David Gray and Tony James each grabbed six rebounds as the Tigers held a 39-31 advantage on the boards. James dished out six assists and led the Tigers with two steals.
Cory Smith paced Rhodes with 22 points, while Andyshea Saberioon added 12. Jeff Blmenthal hauled down six rebounds in the loss.
DePauw shot 49 percent from the field including 55 percent in the first half. Rhodes hit just under 42 percent from the floor but just 27.3 percent in the first half. The Tigers hit 33 of 41 from the line, while the Lynx hit 21 of 33 in a game that included 53 fouls.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, January 16, when they host Austin College.
