January 30, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Mike Moore led three DePauw double-figure scorers with 19 points as the Tigers upended eighth-ranked Trinity by a 61-54 count in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game.
DePauw improved to 14-5 overall and 7-2 in the SCAC, while Trinity dropped to 16-2 overall and 8-1 as its 15-game win streak came to an end.
The host Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead, but Trinity scored 11 straight near the end of the first half to take a 31-24 advantage with 1:20 left. Tom Callen's jumper and Moore's three in the final minute closed the gap to 31-29 at the intermission.
Trinity led by as many as five early in the second half, but DePauw came back and gained a 45-41 lead after Callen's layup with 8:29 remaining. Trinity's Nick Polidoroff's basket closed the margin to two, but DePauw put together an 8-2 stretch which made it 53-45 with 4:45 left.
B.J. Moon's jumper with 1:13 remaining closed DePauw's lead to 55-52, but Drew Wills' bucket with 41 seconds left pushed the lead to five. Trinity couldn't convert on its next possession and DePauw connected on all four free throws in the final 22 seconds.
In addition to Moore's 19, Callen added 12 and a team-high nine rebounds, while Tony James finished with 10 points and four assists.
Patrick Robinson led Trinity with 12 points with Moon and Luke Caldarera each scoring 10. Charles Houstin grabbed a game-high nine rebounds as both teams totaled 37 boards.
DePauw shot 50 percent for the game, while Trinity hit just 31.9 percent from the floor.
The Tigers host Southwestern on Sunday at Noon.
