February 14, 2009, Danville, Ky. — Host Centre scored the game's first 22 points in the opening 11 minutes and DePauw never recovered as the Colonels took a 75-50 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over the Tigers.
The 22nd-ranked Tigers dropped to 17-6 overall and 9-3 in the SCAC, while 23rd-ranked Centre improved to 18-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play.
In the opening 11 minutes, the Tigers missed all nine shots and committed five turnovers before Joe Bergfeld broke the ice with a bucket. Mike Moore followed with a three, but Centre scored the next 13 to pushed the margin to 35-5 with just over seven minutes remaining in the half.
The Colonels took a 50-14 lead into the intermission and the first-half numbers told the story Centre hit 60 percent from the floor to DePauw's 14.3 and the Colonels held a 19-6 edge on the boards.
Centre scored the first five points of the second half to extend the lead to 41 and the Tigers closed to within 24 in the closing minutes.
Moore paced the Tigers with 15 points with Tom Callen adding 10. Moore also led DePauw with six rebounds and hit two three-pointers to tie the DePauw career record of 240 held by Alex Stewart (2002-06).
Kris Bentley led Centre with 20 points, while Danny Noll followed with 11 and Alex Lloyd added 10 along with nine rebounds as the Colonels held a 33-22 advantage on the boards.
Centre shot 47.5 percent for the game to the Tigers' 38.3 percent and the Colonels knocked down 12-of-25 three-pointers.
DePauw hosts Oglethorpe on Friday, February 20, as part of the final home weekend of the season.
