February 22, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw improved to 19-6 overall and finished Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 11-3 record following an 80-46 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Sewanee. The visiting Tigers dropped to 7-18 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Sewanee led briefly in the opening two minutes of the contest, but DePauw pulled away with a 13-1 over a 10-minute stretch of the first half on the way to a 33-21 lead at the break.
Steve Lemasters and Drew Wills knocked down three-pointers at the start of the second half to extend the lead to 18. Sewanee later closed to within 13 at 47-34 before DePauw embarked on a 14-2 stretch which put the game away.
Playing his final regular season home game, Mike Moore led the Tigers with 17 points and eight assists, while Tom Callen (pictured) added a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Bergfeld added 10 in the win and David Gray blocked four shots.
Garrett Hollingsworth paced Sewanee with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Zack Mulligan added 10 points.
DePauw shot 55.6 percent from the floor including 8-of-16 from three-point range and Sewanee hit 33.3 percent from the floor. The Tigers also held a 34-25 rebounding edge.
The win gave DePauw a perfect 13-0 record at home this season as the Tigers have now won 37 of their last 39 games at the Neal Fieldhouse.
DePauw opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament play on Friday, February 27, when it faces Southwestern at 3 p.m. CST in Conway, Ark. More details will be posted later.
