March 8, 2009, Maryville, Tenn. — The sixth-ranked Tigers remained unbeaten and unscored upon this season as they blanked Eureka by a 5-0 score and Maryville, 10-0. With the wins DePauw improved to 4-0.
In the win over Eureka, the Tigers scored one in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth as Megan Soultz pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 12 with no walks.
Emma Minx homered in the third before Carolyn Bartlett drove in two in the fourth with a single and Chelsy Patterson drove her in with a double. Jennifer Kosinski's sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Minx with the game's final run. Patterson paced the Tigers with two hits, while six other Tigers had one each.
Soultz pitched another two-hitter in the five-inning win over Maryville as she struck out two and, again, didn't allow a walk. The Tigers' offense totaled 13 hits with Patterson, Brianne Weeks, Rachel Gill and Kosinksi each collecting two. Mink again homered as she delivered a two-run shot in the fourth. Patterson and Gill also drove in two in the win.
The shutouts lifted Soultz's career total to 28 as she surrendered just 11 hits and two walks while striking out 26 in 23 weekends in the four games.
