October 4, 2009, Memphis, Tenn. — DePauw is 15-5 overall and 3-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a split of its Saturday matches at the SCAC Central/East Divisional. The Tigers opened with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 15-4) non-conference loss to Birmingham-Southern before defeating Rhodes 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 15-10).
Against Birmingham-Southern, Kristen Chynoweth led wtih 16 kills and three three blocks. Ali Smith had 40 assists with Kate Carrico adding 23 digs. Carrico, Annie Collier and Kylee Lehrman each had two aces.
Katey Larson had 16 kills in the win over Rhodes with Smith totaling 42 assists. Madison Hoenig paced the team with 25 digs, while Paige Thompson had five blocks and Lehrman finished with three aces.
The Tigers face Hendrix and Oglethorpe on Sunday.
