November 3, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw senior defender Becca Rojek has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Hockey Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, October 26 through Sunday, November 1. She shared the honor with Meghan Culler of Rhodes.
In Saturday's 2-0 win over Sewanee, Rojek limited the number of Sewanee opportunities by making strong tackles in the open field and slowing down the transition. On the day the Tiger defense gave up only one shot and one corner, racking up their sixth shutout of the season.
DePauw (11-7, 5-3 SCAC) opens SCAC tournament play on Saturday, November 7, at Hendrix College. The Tigers, seeded third, take on second-seeded Centre (12-4, 6-2) in the 1:30 p.m. CST semifinal game.
