Vince Lazar enters his 12th season as DePauw’s head men’s and women’s golf coach after leading both programs to NCAA Division III Championship appearances during the 2004-05 season. Lazar is one of only four coaches NCAA history to lead both programs Division III championships in the same season.
He has led the women's team to eight straight appearances in the national championships with a fourth place finish in 2002 and third place showings in 2003 through 2006 and runner-up performances in 2007 and 2008. The seven top-four national finishes is the most by any DePauw team. Two of his men's teams have competed in the Division III Championships. Additionally, Lazar has coached three individuals in the national championships. During his tenure, 19 Tigers have earned all-America honors.
Lazar's teams have captured six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference titles with six golfers earning SCAC Golfer of the Year honors. The women’s team holds both the 18 and 36-hole conference scoring records and, through the 2008 season, 52 golfers have received all-SCAC honors.
In his 11 seasons, Lazar has led the men's and women's programs to 60 regular season team titles and 51 regular season individual championships. The 2004-05 women’s team finished the regular season undefeated against all Division III competition. Both the men’s and women’s teams established individual and team scoring records under his leadership.
Lazar’s golfers have consistently performed well in the classroom with 19 earning All-American Scholar honors and 52 recognized on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.
A five-time SCAC Coach of the Year, Lazar was named the National Golf Coaches Association’s Women's Division III Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004 and is a five-time regional coach of the year selection.
