It's Mount Union against St. Thomas in sectional finalMount Union used a second-half rally to topple St. Benedict, 79-74, and earn a spot in the West Sectional finals. They will take on St. Thomas, an 80-61 winner over DePauw. Mt. Union, 27-2, is ranked third in the WBCA Division III poll and St. Thomas, 26-1, is ranked second. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m CST at St. Thomas' Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul, Minn. Tigers Fall to Tommies, 80-61, finish season at 23-5The Tigers ran into a tough opponent on Friday as host St. Thomas defeated the Old Gold, 80-61. Kelly Morrison led the Tigers with 18 followed by Susan Bender with 15 and Kelly Bailey with 11. Kirsten Vipond paced the Tommies with 24 and Paige Olson added 11. St. Thomas advances to the sectional final to face Mount Union. The Purple Raiders defeated St. Benedict in Friday's second game. Thanks for following the Tigers in what has been a great season! Tigers advance to "sweet 16" with 70-63 win over Baldwin-WallaceBOX SCORE The Tigers led by two at halftime and after Anderson's basket with 3:55 left, the game was tited for the fourth time in the half and eighth for the game. The Tigers then scored the next nine points (eight by Bender) to go ahead 63-54 with just 1:02 left. The Tigers hit their free throws down the stretch to hold on for the win.
Tigers Host Yellow Jackets in Second Round Clash on SaturdayThe DePauw women's basketball team makes its second appearance in three years in the NCAA Division III Championship when it hosts Baldwin-Wallace College on Saturday. Tipoff at the Neal Fieldhouse is set for 3 p.m. Baldwin-Wallace edged Hope College on Wednesday evening, 75-71, in a first round game. The Tigers take a school-record 14-game win streak into Saturday's game and have posted a school-record tying 22 wins against just four losses. Baldwin-Wallace, likewise, enters the game with a school-record equaling 23 wins against only five losses. Tickets for Saturday's second round game are $4 for adults and $3 for students and are available in the athletic department office on the second floor of the Lilly Center from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday. |
