14TH-RANKED WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM EARNS SECOND NCAA TRIP IN THREE YEARS; HOSTS SECOND ROUND GAME SATURDAY

Greencastle, Ind. - The 14th-ranked DePauw women's basketball team has earned a first round bye and will host a second round game in the NCAA Division III WomenÕs Basketball Championship this Saturday, March 7. Game time and ticket information will be available later.

The Tigers, seeded second in the Great Lakes Region, will take on the winner of Wednesday's first round matchup between 16-10 Hope College (Mich.) at 22-5 Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) game.

 

DePauw, 22-4 on the season, won a school-record 14 straight games to close the season and posted a perfect 10-0 record in the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers captured the ICAC tournament championship yesterday with a 76-62 victory over Manchester College. The 22 wins equals the school record set last year.

 

This is the Tigers' second trip to the Division III tournament. The Tigers lost at eventual national champion Wisconsin-Oshkosh during the 1995-96 season.
