Ferguson paces Tigers to 24-point win

Greencastle, Ind. (2-9-03) - Dana Ferguson scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead 19th-ranked DePauw to its seventh straight win-a 74-51 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Hendrix.

 

The Tigers, winners of 12 of their last 13 games, improved to 18-3 overall and 10-1 in the SCAC. Hendrix dropped to 14-7 overall and 5-6 in SCAC play.

 

DePauw held the Warriors scoreless over the first 4:42 and never trailed in building a 37-24 halftime lead. The Tigers connected on 56 percent of their field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes.

 

A 12-4 run at the start of the second half put the contest away as the Tigers led by as many as 26 down the stretch.

 

Ferguson hit 10 of 12 from the floor and added three assists and four steals in the win. Erin Miller dished out five assists and recorded nine steals in just 12 minutes.

 

Erin McKenzie led the Warriors with 13 followed by Abby Mowry with 11. Jamie Ball grabbed seven rebounds for Hendrix.

 

The game marked the final regular season home game for Ferguson, Miller, Jill Schneider, Kim Weigle and Heather Wiles. The five have been part of teams with a four-year record of 83-18 including a 56-9 SCAC mark and a 40-6 record at the Neal Fieldhouse.

 

DePauw travels to Rose-Hulman on Thursday for a 6 p.m. contest.
