Tigers win easily over Sewanee, 87-31

Greencastle, Ind. (1-24-03) - The Tigers trailed only at 2-0 and then rattled off 19 straight points on the way to an 87-31 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over visiting Sewanee.

 

DePauw, ranked 22nd by D3hoops.com and 25th in the coaches poll, improved to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the SCAC, while Sewanee dropped to 2-12 and 0-6.

 

Amy Argetsinger reached double figures for the fifth straight game with a team-high 14, while Colleen Powers and Kim Weigle each scored 11. Sally Jackson paced Sewanee with 15 points, while Sarah Harder added 11.

 

DePauw committed just three first-half turnovers in taking a 44-10 halftime advantage. Sewanee, which finished with 35 turnovers for the contest, turned it over 19 times in the opening 20 minutes.

 

The hosts outrebounded Sewanee 39-22 with Dana Ferguson leading the way with nine. Jamie McConnell paced Sewanee with six. DePauw finished with a season-low seven turnovers and a season-high 26 assists. Of DePauw's 16 players, 14 reached the scoring column.

 

DePauw hosts Centre at 3 p.m. on Sunday in a battle of 5-1 SCAC teams.
