Greencastle, Ind. (5-4-2003) - The sixth-ranked DePauw University women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals with a 6-3 win over ninth-ranked Washington (Mo.) University in a second-round match. Quarterfinal play begins May 14 at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif.
The Tigers opened the match by winning all three doubles matches. Haley Heatman and Liz Bondi, ranked fourth in Division III, defeated the 21st-ranked tandem of Rathi Mani and Lauren Zwick.
Jill Anderson and Alex Nelson defeated Steph and Kacie Cook at number two by an 8-6 count, while Kristin Gieseke and Kathryn Magill beat Jenny Stein and Laura Greenberg by an 8-4 count.

Bondi, ranked 16th in the nation in singles, defeated the Bears' Kacie Cook, 6-1, 6-1, at number two, while Steph Cook defeated Anderson by a 6-1, 6-3 score at third singles and Washington's Jen Kivitz defeated Katherine Nicolson 6-2, 6-0 to make it 4-2 in favor of DePauw. Rain then forced the remaining three matches to be completed indoors.
DePauw's Alex Nelson clinched the victory for the Tigers with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Laura Greenberg at fourth singles. Zwick beat Gieseke 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 at number five before fourth-ranked Heathman closed the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win over fifth-ranked Stein.
