Kara Campbell is entering her second academic year at DePauw as an assistant athletic trainer after serving as head athletic trainer at Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Ala.) for a year.
Campbell will oversee the field hockey, cross country, women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse programs and will assist head athletic trainer Rex Call with other duties as assigned.
At Huntingdon, Campbell was both the head athletic trainer and an adjunct professor in the sport sciences and human performance department. In her duties she was responsible for all aspects of athletic training and medical care for over 500 student-athletes; including injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and preventative care.
Prior to arriving at Huntingdon, Campbell was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Troy University (Troy, Ala.). While there, she was in charge of training duties for the cross country, track and field, volleyball and tennis squads.
Campbell has also expanded her knowledge of the athletic training field by working as an outreach athletic trainer where she worked with football, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball. She was also given the opportunity to work at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Florida as a certified athletic trainer.
A 2007 graduate of Franklin College (Ind.), Campbell went on to earn her master’s degree in sport and fitness management and administration from Troy University in 2009.
Campbell is a board certified athletic trainer (LAT, ATC) by both the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Indiana state licensing board. She is an American Red Cross CPR/AED cardholder and is designated instructor for the organization. Additionally, Campbell is a member of the NATA and the Indiana Athletic Trainers Association.
