Eight Tigers earn all-SCAC baseball honors; five selected to first team

May 18, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Eight DePauw players earned all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors including five on the first team in voting by the conference's head coaches.

The five named to the first team included senior second baseman Ryan Sipe, senior pitcher Mark Alson, junior pitcher P.J. Mitchell, junior catcher Adrian Norris and junior third baseman Matt Deahl.

Deahl led the team with a .403 average, while Sipe was right behind at .401. Norris batted .315, while Alson and Mitchell each posted 7-3 records on the mound.

Junior outfielder Kyle Dobbs, sophomore outfielder Chris Newman and freshman pitcher John Tschantz earned honorable mention.

The Tigers finished the season with a school-record 29 wins against just 14 losses and captured the SCAC Eastern Division title.
