DePauw is pick to repeat in SCAC East

February 7, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - With the return of all but two position players and three of the four regular starting pitchers, DePauw is the coaches' preseason pick to win the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Eastern Division baseball title.
In voting by the conference's head coaches, DePauw picked up two first-place votes and 22 total points, while Rose-Hulman was second with two first-place votes and 20 points. Sewanee was third with 16 points and a first-place vote with Centre fourth with 12 points and Oglethorpe fifth with five points. DePauw finished the 2005 season with a school-record 29 wins against 14 losses and won the SCAC East by two games with a 12-4 record.
The coaches selected defending conference champion Millsaps to win the Western Division as the Majors totaled 21 points including three first-place votes. Trinity was selected second with 20 points and a first-place vote, followed by Southwestern with 18 points and a first-place vote. Rhodes collected 10 points and Hendrix six.
Millsaps was the coaches' pick to win the SCAC title with seven votes. Southwestern received two and Trinity one.
DePauw opens the 2006 season on Saturday, February 25, when it travels to Anderson for a noon doubleheader.
