DePauw's Win Streak Ends at Franklin

March 12, 2008, Franklin, Ind. - Host Franklin jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings and held on for a 9-6 victory over DePauw. The loss snapped DePauw's eight-game win streak as the Tigers dropped to 8-3. The Grizzlies improved to 3-5.
Mike Zuidema's two-run, two-out double in the first lifted Franklin to a 2-0 lead before the Tigers scored once in the top of the second on Justin Weiner's bases loaded single with two outs.
Franklin's five-run second came on five hits, but a DePauw error led to three unearned runs. The Tigers closed the gap to 7-4 when Mike Stout banged out a three-run homer in the third. The round-tripper was his third in the last fourth game and fourth in the last six contests.
The Grizzlies added one in the fourth and one in the seventh, while the Tigers scored once in the seventh.
Trent Dahlstrom picked up the win to improve to 1-2, while David Morefield dropped to 1-1.
DePauw totaled nine hits as Jon Newman and Jeremy Dickinson each totaled two. Lance Noel, Zuidema, Ian Sanders and Adam Blackburn each had two of Franklin's 12 hits.
The Tigers host Lakeland on Saturday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
