Tigers Fall at Wooster by Three; Lewis and Nixon Named to All-Tournament Team
WOOSTER, OHIO — Sophomore forward Joe Nixon put together game high totals of 20 points and 12 rebounds and the Tigers outscored host Wooster 28-6 at the free throw line, but the Fighting Scots won the game 64-61 to take the Al Van Wie Rotary Classic championship.
The Tigers led 43-42 after freshman Joe Ringger's basket with 12:55 left, but Wooster scored six straight over the next 1:32 to take a five-point lead. That lead reached as many as eight points in the final two minutes before the Tigers closed to within three. Sophomore Mike Howland's three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.
Nixon and sophomore Sean Lewis were named to the all-tournament team. Lewis finished with 14 points.
The Tigers travel to Crawfordsville on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game with Wabash College.
