Tigers top Hendrix for SCAC weekend sweep
Conway, Ark. (1-5-03) - Jeremy Bettis scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Joe Ringger and Jon Owens each added 10 as DePauw improved to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 73-56 win at Hendrix. The Warriors fell to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.
A 13-0 first-half run took the Tigers from a one-point deficit to a 21-9 lead with 8:15 left in the opening 20 minutes. DePauw stretched the margin to 15 at 34-19 at the break.
Hendrix closed the gap to as little as six at 34-28 as it scored the first nine points of the second half. DePauw, however, put the game away with a 14-4 spurt of their own. The Tigers' lead reached as many as 23 points at 65-42.
DePauw held Hendrix to 31 percent shooting and outrebounded the Warriors by a 49-31 count. Dillon Farris led Hendrix with 13 points followed by Harvell Howard with 12 and Reggie Talley with 10.
The Tigers travel to Earlham College on Wednesday, January 8, at 7:30 p.m.
