Tigers roll to 98-79 win at Rhodes

Memphis, Tenn. - Five DePauw players scored in double figures and the Tigers shot nearly 59 percent from the floor on the way to a 98-79 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Rhodes. DePauw improved to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in SCAC play, while Rhodes dropped to 5-7 and 1-3.
Alex Stewart led the DePauw attack with 20, while Dre Smith, Reid Sakel and Jon Owens each scored 15. Todd Capes chipped in 12 in the victory. Smith's 15 were a career high, while Sakel's 15 points came on a team-high five three-pointers.
The Tigers shot 64 percent from the floor in the first half and knocked down seven of nine three-pointers to jump to a 51-34 halftime advantage. DePauw led by as many as 25 in the second half and coasted to its second straight win.
Rhodes placed five players in double figures led by Matthew Jakes with 16 and Tommy Orton with 15. Austin Lutz added 11, while Rami Almefty and Joey Daly added 10 apiece. Stewart added seven rebounds as the Tigers held a 37-26 advantage on the boards. Kevin Campion paced Rhodes with seven rebounds and added 11 assists. Joey Hanger dished out five assists for the Tigers.
