DePauw loses to Centre, 63-46

Greencastle, Ind. - Reggie Magnusson scored a game-high 21 points to lead visiting Centre to a 63-46 win over DePauw in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action. DePauw dropped to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the SCAC, while Centre improved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Centre led by as many as 12 in the first half and went to the break with a 35-25 advantage. Centre shot 50 percent from the floor and hit six three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes, while the Tigers shot just 34.5 percent and hit just two of 10 from three-point range.
DePauw closed the gap to single digits early in the second half at 35-27, but the Colonels scored six straight to push the margin back to 14. Centre cooled off to just under 41 percent in the second half, but the Tigers connected on just 29.2 percent over the final 20 minutes.
Todd Capes paced the Tigers with 11 points, while Derek Lawrence added 10. Dre Smith equaled a career-high with 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes and grabbed eight in the first half. DePauw outerbounded Centre 35-33. Capes recorded a game-high three steals in the loss.
In addition to Magnusson's 21, James Booker added 13 and Jason Atwell scored 10. Coy Zerhusen led Centre with nine rebounds, while John Ortega came off the bench to grab six rebounds and dish out a game-high five assists.
Centre finished with 45.1 percent from the floor, while DePauw connected on just 32.1 percent from the floor including only 18.8 percent from three-point range.
